Specializing in Lake Trout

Central Wisconsin's Big Green Lake has been Dennis Walker's professional territory for more than 40 years.

For years the native fishing guide had a distinction few such professionals can offer.  He once caught a 47 inch, 34 1/2 pound lake trout, that held the state record for 14 years.  That's a notable enough achievement for an outdoor guide.   It's even more remarkable when you consider Walker caught the fish when he was just twelve years old.

We have an outstanding lake here.  It's waters are deep and clear, with not only a variety of structure, but also a variety of fish ranging from lake trout to pan fish.

We offer two unique fishing experiences on Big Green Lake, fish for lake trout on our pontoon boat, or explore the vast variety of fish that Big Green Lake has to offer on one of our smaller boats.

Current Fishing Report

Thursday, August 07, 2008

BIG GREEN LAKE UPDATE;  We are now in what I call the DOG DAYS OF SUMMER. Are water has warmed way up there is alot of alge growth on the waters surface. Water visibility is bad all around and most fishing is slow. Right now we need some cooler weather to clear things up. FISHING REPORT; Like I said most fishing is slow the best bite is Northern and Lake Trout. NORTHERN are still coming from the weedy drops offs. Chubs or suckers trolled slow in these areas should work. LAKE TROUT; Are on and off and hard to find. The best biters are over the deep water down 70 to 125 feet. Dodger and minnow or plain spoons trolled in these depths best. LARGE & SMALLMOUTH BASS: The Largemouth are in the weeds. Plastic and spinners best here. The Smallmouth are still by the rocky shorelines. The bite is slow. You have to move alot to find the good bite. Best setup is leechs and helgramites fished close to bottom. Also may want to try the edge of the deeper weed lines 17 to 25 feet of water for the bigger Smallmouth. WALLEYE; Are slow, best bite is at nite. Leechs and nightchawlers fished with small spinners best. WHITEBASS; Very slow. BROWN TROUT; Slow. Most are showing up over the deep water down 30 to 80 feet. Spinners best. Also hitting a dodger and minnow combo set up for Lake Trout. PANFISH; BLUEGILLS. Are next to the weedy drops and on a fair bite. Small worms drop shoted or fished with bobber best. ****Fishing will pickup again soon with cooler nites and clearer water****Good Fishing To You. *****To fish with Dennis Walker's Pontoon Guide Service call him at 920-294-0611 or 920-572-0622 on the water.
